JUCO Guard Troy Simons Commits to Pitt

Published

A couple of day after receiving an offer from his hometown school, Troy Simons is coming home.

This morning on Twitter, Simons announced that he’s verbally committed to the Pitt Panthers.

The Polk State shooting guard graduated from University Prep in Pittsburgh. This year at Polk State, Simons is leading the NJCA in scoring (26.3 PPG), shooting 40.9% from 3-point range and was named the Suncoast Conference Co-Player of the Year.

Simons will be the seventh new face on the Pitt roster next season joining Jared Wilson-Frame, Marcus Carr, Terrell Brown, Aaron Thomson, Peace Illegomah and Shamiel Stevenson.

Simons, Wilson-Frame and Carr will have a great opportunity for playing time considering Kevin Stallings only has four guards scheduled to return in Crisshawn Clark, Cam Johnson, Jonathan Milligan and Damon Wilson.

It wouldn’t shock me if one of those players doesn’t return next season.

The transformation of the Pitt basketball roster continues.
