PITTSBURGH — Pitt senior guard/forward Jared Wilson-Frame will be suspended for the Panthers’ season opener against Youngstown State on Tuesday, the program announced Tuesday evening.

Wilson-Frame was listed as a projected starter for the game by the team. He did not start in the team’s exhibition game against Pitt-Johnstown. He is the team’s leading returning scorer.

“The University of Pittsburgh athletic department has high standards and every student-athlete is expected to uphold those standards,” head coach Jeff Capel said in a press release. “Jared did not meet those standards this past spring. He has taken responsibility for the error and I have been pleased with his growth and commitment to the program, his teammates and the university. Jared remains an important part of our program and we look forward to his return to the court.”

In 2017-18, his first year at Pitt after transferring from Northwest Florida State, he averaged 13 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. He led Pitt with 74 3-pointers.

Against UPJ, he had 14 points, five rebounds one block and one steal in 25 minutes.
