The Pitt football staff was busy recruiting down South and offered a junior defensive back from Alabama.

2020 3-star athlete Antwon Fegans Jr. from Oxford, Alabama received the news from Archie Collins. Fegans now has offers from Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis and Virginia Tech.

This evening, PSN spoke with Fegans Jr. who gave us his thoughts on the offer and a question Collins asked him before extending the offer.

“The offer didn’t surprise me because I’ve been taking with Coach Collins for awhile now,” said Fegans Jr. “Before he offered me, he wanted to know since I’m from Alabama, would I be OK with possibly going to school in Pittsburgh. A lot of kids from here don’t want to go up north because of the weather and it being cold.”

”I told him for sure I’d be ok going up there. Some of my favorite schools are from up north, I’m totally fine. I might be meant to go north.”

Despite being labeled as an athlete because he plays both sides of the ball in high school, Fegans tells me that in college he’s definitely a defensive back, most likely a cornerback.

”I’m a physical corner that can jam the receiver at the line,” said Fegans Jr. “That’s what Coach Collins told me is that they play press coverage at Pitt and that’s my game.”

Fegans tells me that he’s loving the process of getting recruited and that this whole experience is a dream come true.

”Growing up, I just dreamed of getting that first offer and then just dreaming of getting offers from such and such school,” said Fegans Jr. “I’ve just always dreamed of going to college and hopefully being good enough to earn a scholarship to play football and I worked hard to put myself in position to do it. All of this didn’t come easy.”

As far as visits and a decision timeline go, Fegans Jr. tells me that after talking to his parents, he’s going to take his time. He’s going to make official visits during his season and after the season.

Over the summer, he’ll make unofficial visits and if logistics can be figured out, he’d like to make a trip with his family to see Pittsburgh.
