D.J. Russell Leaves Robert Morris After A Month

The Robert Morris Colonials not only lost another game last night, but they lost one of their most talented players.

Former 3-star forward D.J. Russell announced today that he was leaving the program after just a month.

Russell (6’7”, 225) was a huge get for Andy Toole in April as the former Miami Dade College star was rated as one of the Top 50 JUCO players in the country.

A source tells PSN that Russell wasn’t happy with his playing time or role as he wasn’t a starter at the start of the season.

”After sitting down talking to my family we feel like it is best for me to transfer from Robert Morris University. It just wasn’t the right fit for me to maximize my full potential. I really appreciate everybody that played a role in helping me out at RMU. I just want to say I really appreciate everything that you all have done for me but with that being said, I have put my name in the NCAA transfer portal,” Russell said in a statement.

Next up for Robert Morris is a game in Russell’s home state of Florida as they take on Florida Gulf Coast.
