Freshman forward Justin Champagnie led the way with his second career double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to lead Pitt in both categories.

Trey McGowens had 13 points, Ryan Murphy had 11 and Au’Diese Toney 10 as the Panthers had three players in double digits. They had plenty of opportunities, as Binghamton turned the ball over 27 times, a season high for a Pitt opponent.

The Panthers turned all those turnovers into a ton of points, scoring 32 off turnovers.

With the score lopsided, Pitt head coach Jeff Capel was able to empty the bench in the final moments, getting KJ Marshall and Chayce Smith their first action at Pitt and fellow walk-ons Curtis Aiken, Jr. and Onye Ezeakudo playing time.

Pitt will now host Canisius in the Panthers’ non conference finale at the Pete on Dec. 30.

Wasn’t a win against a top quality opponent like Duquesne but a good win nonetheless.

Great defensive effort. They smothered them and forced them into bad shots and 27 turnovers . Duquesne would have put 110 points on Pitt, though and won by 30
