BLACKSBURG, Va. — Pitt will officially be without one of its three rotational big men on Saturday night as they battle Virginia Tech in Cassell Coliseum.
In the final minutes of the Panthers’ 20-point loss at home to Clemson on Wednesday, Feb. 5, Eric Hamilton landed wrong on his ankle after finishing a dunk and falling on the ball in the closing minutes of the game. Hamilton was helped to the sidelines, and Pitt head coach Jeff Capel didn’t have any clarity on the severity of the injury.
The graduate transfer from UNC Greensboro is averaging 5.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per game this season. He’s also started 18 games, despite junior Terrell Brown getting the nod in the Panthers’ last two contests.
Expect freshman Karim Coulibaly to have an increased role in Blacksburg. The Hokies are coming into Saturday’s game with five-straight conference losses. The game will be aired on ACC Network.
Additionally, guard Onye Ezeakudo will miss his third straight game with ankle sprain.
