Watch: Paul Zeise On Pitt Deciding Not to Play Duquesne Again

Published

on

The big local story of the day has been that for the second consecutive season basketball fans in Pittsburgh won’t be watching the City Game.

It was announced today that Jeff Capel and Pitt have decided to pass on playing the Duquesne Dukes.

PSN caught with with Paul Zeise of the Pgh Post-Gazette and 93.7 FM “The Fan”, to get his reaction. Zeise grew up in Pittsburgh watching this game and has also covered it as a member of the Pittsburgh media. As you would expect, Zeise had strong opinions.

Before this becomes a big annoying thing again:

City Game attendance by year:
2018 – 12,246
2017 – 10,118
2016 – 10,997
2015 – 13,906

Decent attendance for sure, but it’s not like this is a hot ticket.

Neither Heather nor Jeff are from Pittsburgh so they could care less. Imagine 5 years from now Capel is hired by Duke and he announces they wont play UNC and NC State nor any creampuff from North Carolina. This is as classless as Peds not playing Pitt in football. Shameful. Not feeling Pitt proud right now. Cant wait for Arkansas Pine Bluff to show up.
