PITTSBURGH — Pitt junior wing Au’Diese Toney will miss the team’s game against No. 16 Florida State on Saturday afternoon, the team announced an hour before tip-off.
Toney is Pitt’s second-leading scorer at 14.4 points per game and second-leading rebounder at 3.6 rebounds per game and also one of the ACC’s top wing defenders.
The 6-foot-6 junior from Huntsville, Alabama has started 16 of Pitt’s 17 games this season. He also missed the team’s Dec. 22 game against Louisville with an injury.
Toney would likely have been one of the Panthers tasked with defending Florida State’s top scorer, guard M.J. Walker, who averages 13.9 points per game and is shooting 47.8% from 3-point range.
Pitt’s options to replace Toney in the lineup include guards Femi Odukale and Nike Sibande and forwards Will Jeffress and Noah Collier.
