Pitt wide receiver D.J. Turner signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent following the conclusion of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Turner, who stands 5-foot-9 and weighs 206 pounds, caught 44 passes in his lone season as a Panther. He primarily played in the slot, racking up 634 yards and three touchdowns and catching the eyes of NFL scouts in the process after four seasons at Maryland. He was second among Pitt’s regular receivers with a 14.4 yards per carry average and was second on the team in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
He ran a 4.59-second 40 yard dash but has played faster than that time. The Raiders have a penchant for speedy receivers, so he’d fit right in if he can make the 53 man roster.
Turner can also return kicks and punts, averaging 22.2 and 8.3 yards, respectively, giving him another weapon to find a place on an NFL roster. The Raiders didn’t pick a receiver in the draft, but have six players with NFL experience on their roster at the position.
