The Hinish legacy will continue with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football program.

Central Catholic defensive tackle Donovan Hinish ended his high school recruiting by announcing on Friday evening that he was committing to play for Notre Dame. Donovan’s brother, Kurt, is currently a senior defensive tackle with Brian Kelly’s program.

The 3-star defensive tackle commits to Notre Dame over other offers from Pitt, Virginia Tech, Central Florida and a handful of MAC programs. Hinish announced his decision this evening via Twitter.

“First, I want to thank every coach that has recruited me to this point. I am incredibly blessed and honored to be in this position. That said, I want to announced that I will be spending the next 4 years at the University of Notre Dame.”

Hinish becomes the second player in the WPIAL Class of 2022 to commit to a Power Five program, joining Central Valley defensive tackle Sean FitzSimmons (Pitt).

The last WPIAL player to commit to play for Notre Dame was Mars 4-star offensive tackle Michael Carmody in the Class of 2020.
