Isaiah Montgomery, a three-star offensive-line recruit from Virginia Beach, Va., made an official visit to Pitt on Friday. Montgomery discussed his visit and his commitment plans with Pittsburgh Sports Now.

When making visits to college programs, players’ interest often grow based on what coaches have to say, but for Montgomery, it was what he heard from the coaches before they met in person that tuned him into the culture.

“(They are) really making sure that they have good players and they’re all good people and that they’re really good to be around, because once I met the players, it reflected that,” Montgomery said. “It reflected how good the coaching staff is and how it’s really a family vibe.”

Montgomery added that the people were his biggest take away, and that he liked the overall vibe of the program.

As for the timeline of his commitment, the 6-foot-5, 280-pound recruit said that his decision will be “sooner than later, but I’ll definitely do it before the season.” Montgomery also noted that Pitt was “definitely in the top tier” of his possible choices.

Montgomery has other offers from Arizona State, Boston College, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State, NC State, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
