One of the top basketball players in the Class of 2022 will make a much anticipated announcement this week.
5-star wing MJ Rice has announced that he will make his college decision on Tuesday. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound wing is ranked as the No. 20 overall player in the Class of 2022.
Last season, Rice played for Oak Hill Academy but has since transferred to national power Prolific Prep. The question now is who will Rice be playing for in 2022?
After reportedly considering going straight to the NBA G-League, Rice will instead first go the college basketball route.
Rice hasn’t announced any finalists but did make three official visits: Kansas, Oklahoma State and Pitt. In fact, the last official visit for Rice was to Pitt last week. Other schools that have recruited him hard are NC State, Duke and Virginia Tech.
Although it would probably be a long shot, considering he made a visit there, Pitt appears to have a shot with Rice.
Pitt has already landed 4-star guard Judah Mintz and still are looking to land a wing and a big man. Rice would certainly fit their desire for a wing.
Capel needs to land a big fish.
33% chance…..need some heavy hitters to get this program out of the basement.
