After just one season in Chapel Hill, former Central Catholic standout A.J. Beatty has decided to move one.

The redshirt freshman announced on Monday that he’s entered the NCAA Transfer Portal and is looking for a new school to attend.

“I will be entering the transfer portal. I want to give a huge thank you to Coach Brown and the entire staff for all they have done for me during my time at Carolina. I wish the team nothing but the best in the future. At Carolina, I averaged around a 3.4-3.5 GPA and made the ACC Academic Honor Roll. Currently, I am [6-foot-5], 305 lbs with experience at DL and OL.”

Beatty’s recruitment exploded during his senior season as he received over 40 scholarship offers before deciding on North Carolina. Other Power 5 programs that extended him offers were Boston College, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, NC State, Purdue, Rutgers, South Carolina, Syracuse, Virginia, West Virginia and Pitt.

Pitt was Beatty’s first Power Five offer but interestingly didn’t make his top seven schools before deciding on North Carolina. He was recruited as a defensive end and a tight end and played offensive line at North Carolina.
