Pitt First Power Five Offer For Florida 2023 Cornerback Braeden Marshall

It took only one game for some college programs to know what people around the Lake Mary (Florida) football program already knew and that is that Braeden Marshall is a really good football player.

The junior cornerback had an impressive performance against Lake Gibson High School and recorded his first interception of the 2021 season. Following the game, Marshall received this high praise from Lake Gibson wide receivers coach Daunta Peterson.

Pitt had people at that game, which came away impressed with the talented cornerback. Tim Salem, who recruits Central Florida for Pitt, got in touch with Marshall on Thursday to let him know that he’d earned a scholarship. That was a big one for Marshall because it was his first Power Five offer.

“Coach Salem told me to call him, which I did and we talked for a while and then he offered,” Marshall told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “He said that he liked my skills, liked how I played and they were actually at my game last week against Lake Gibson and said I played very well.

“Before I talked to him, he texted me and told me to call him so that I can offer you. When I saw that text I thought to myself, man this is crazy and a blessing. Although that was great news, I realize that I still need to stay focused because I have a season ahead. Getting that first Power Five offer is a blessing and it means so much. Pitt is a great school and will definitely keep them up top now. Before the season, I was getting a lot of interest from schools and knew that if I played well that my recruiting could really blow up.”

Shortly after receiving the offer from Pitt, Marshall then got his second one from Jeff Hafley and Boston College. When asking him to describe his strengths and style of play, Marshall fits the profile of cornerbacks that Pat Narduzzi and Archie Collins go after.

“I’m a lockdown cornerback that like to play press man and like to get up in you. I’m very physical and I’m fast (4.5),” said Marshall.

Now that he has this offer, Marshall says that he plans on doing plenty of research on the Pitt program, although he’s aware of their facilities and is impressed.

Ole Miss, Marshall, Central Florida, South Florida, Coastal Carolina are just some of the schools that have been in contact recently with Marshall.
