Pitt Football Continues to Look for Quarterback in Class of 2023

Published

on

As Pitt found out firsthand last season, having an elite quarterback is a gamechanger and can turn your program from being a good one into a great one.

Behind the leadership of Kenny Pickett, Pitt enjoyed an 11-win season, won their first ACC Football Championship and played in a major bowl game for the first time since 2004.

The Panthers were fortunate enough to land one of the top quarterbacks in the transfer portal in USC’s Kedon Slovis, so his presence along with the abundance of talent on the returning roster puts Pitt in a legitimate position to once again contend for another ACC Coastal Division Championship.

Tracking the quarterback position has been interesting this off-season in terms of players that have received Pitt offers. Pat Narduzzi and Frank Cignetti Jr. have already extended offers to 16 junior quarterbacks, many of whom are highly rated and are getting heavily recruited. If 16 seems like a large number, it is. In fact, it’s the most offers to quarterbacks that we can track when going through yearly offers from the Pitt program.

The latest one came Tuesday night as Cignetti offered 3-star Kenny Minchey from Hendersonville, Tennessee. It’s interesting, Pitt has now offered three junior quarterbacks from Tennessee, which is likely a by-product of Pitt new assistant quarterbacks coach Jonathan DiBiaso, who has roots to that area.

Here are the 16 quarterbacks in the Class of 2023 with offers from Pitt:

Dante Moore: 5-star from Detroit, Michigan.

Nico Iamaleava: 5-star from Downey, California.

Christopher Vizzina: 4-star from Birmingham, Alabama. (Recent offer).
