On Sunday afternoon, Duquesne forward Snezhana Serafimoska revealed that she was recently diagnosed with early-stage cancer. In her statement released on Twitter, Serafimoska captioned the post, “I’m winning this one.”

“First, I want to thank God for giving me the strength to keep going these past few months,” Serafimoska said. “I thank my family, friends, teammates, coaches, and the entire Duquesne University Athletics department for having my back and being a shoulder to lean on when I need it the most.

“Recently, I was diagnosed with cancer in its earliest stages, have had surgery, and am recovering while I mentally prepare for the treatment that follow. I appreciate all of the love and support I have been getting. This is just another obstacle that I will get through.”

The Duquesne women’s basketball Twitter account quote tweeted Serafimoska’s post, “Together We Fight.”

Serafimoska is a redshirt freshman for the Dukes and a native of Gostivar, Macedonia. Serafimoska appeared in nine games for the Dukes in 2021-22, averaging 5.2 minutes per game and scoring four points.

Serafimoska redshirted in her freshman season at Duquesne in 2019-20, and played in eight games in 2020-21.
