In today’s recruiting landscape, college programs aren’t waiting until a player reaches a certain grade level to extend a scholarship offer. And we saw another example of that on Monday night.
Pitt joined an ever-growing list of Power Five schools that have gotten into the race of recruiting 8th grade phenom quarterback Julian “Ju Ju” Lewis from Carrollton, Georgia. The Panthers became the ninth program to extend him a scholarship offer.

At this extremely early stage, Lewis (6-foot-1, 175 pounds) now holds offers from Pitt, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Ole Miss, Morgan State, Oregon and Penn State.
Although he’s just in the eighth grade, Lewis played last season for the high school freshman team. It’s interesting that Lewis’ head coach at Carrollton High School is Joey King, who also coached former Clemson great and current Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence in high school.
Lewis received the Pitt offer from Tiquan Underwood.
