On Saturday, former California University of Pennsylvania standout forward Philip Alston told Pittsburgh Sports Now that he committed to Loyola Chicago.
Alston averaged 21 points and 10.8 rebounds this season for Cal U. Alston, after hearing from over 50 schools in the portal, Alston’s recruiting process ended quicker than expected, as Pitt, Ole Miss, division one programs recruited Alston since he entered the portal. However, once he checked out Loyola’s campus, he knew he was home.
“Them being one of the first schools to really recruit me hard once I get entered the portal and have kept up with me the hardest and the most throughout the process,” Alston told The Portal Report. “So them really making sure I knew how much of a priority I was to them helped and just the winning culture they have there is different. They are a great overall program academically, the city of Chicago is amazing, and the coaching staff is super young and relatable.”
