Report: Jordan Addison’s Return To Pitt “Remains A Very Viable Option”

Published

on

The first step in determining the immediate future of Jordan Addison is expected to take place later this afternoon.

Pitt’s star wide receiver filed his paperwork to officially enter the NCAA Transfer Portal before the May 1 deadline, and Addison’s is expected to appear in the portal today.

Once that takes place, interested teams are then permitted to approach him, although that apparently hasn’t stopped programs such as USC from doing so before they were permitted to do so. Because of that, national accusations of tampering have been thrown at Lincoln Riley’s program.

While it’s been widely assumed that Addison will end up at USC, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports that’s not necessarily the case. In fact, Thamel said “every powerhouse in the country will be a suitor” for Addison. A source tells Thamel that Addison hasn’t made up his mind and there’s no expectation of an imminent decision. That person also says that “a return to Pittsburgh remains a very viable option.”

Pittsburgh Sports Now has tried to find out the exact new NIL deal that officials at Pitt have extended to Addison but at this point, no one is willing to talk.

Love the optimism, but I think he’s as good as gone. It’s a matter of who pays him the most at this point.

To be clear, I don’t blame Addison for this, who among us would not leave our current job for a 2-3 million dollar raise? I blame the system and the NCAA shortsighted implementation of NFT with minimal rules or guidelines to prevent poaching. We can safely assume USC intentionally poached, but I am also certain that Lincoln Riley did this in a way that he was personally insulated from breaking any “rules”.

Agree! I don’t think the NCAA cares about being shortsighted, or at all. And hopefully the big time Pitt NFL players step up and get him a deal to stay at Pitt.
H2P!!!

No one is calling out Riley in the media and the narrative is what/will matter if they get any punishment, which I doubt. I don’t blame Addison and I don’t blame Pitt for not releasing the upped offer. They obviously don’t want to start a bidding war. Addison could’ve decided he wanted to test the waters long ago, which is the annoying part on his end. The NIL framework as currently constructed is going to be a mess. I read the interview with Deion and he had a point in saying that “Where are these kids’ names being used for… Read more »

Nobody else but myself thinks the comments from people close to him are just a smokescreen because of the way it original went down? If it was viable he’d return to Pitt then it wouldn’t be at this point. Some of the heat has to be taken off of USC right now with the uproar it caused across the country. His people put it out there that a decision hasn’t been made. Let it die down until everyone moves on to the next uproar, then he quietly signs with USC and then say after long thought and weighing all options… Read more »

The NCAA should investigate this. If they don’t act now, they never will be able to act. If it can be proved that Riley tampered with our player, we should sue USC. That’s the only way to get control of the cheaters.

Let’s use our resources in a better way than suing USC over one football player. Put that money into developing the players we have

I don’t blame Jordan Addison for taking a great offer although I wish loyalty still meant something as PITT supposedly upped their NIL offer.
I am not a fan of Lincoln Riley and the “win at all costs” mentality. There is a right way to conduct business and I hope Narduzzi can prove tampering. And I hope that Riley’s collection of bought talent fails miserably.
But I am not bitter!!

About Jordan Addison Pitt was good enough for him to win the highest award in the NCAA as a wide receiver. Could he have done it at another school ???? He was at the right place at the right time.

Crazy situation …. something, or someone, got him thinking about moving on to greener pastures. Why didn’t he file weeks ago ? Timing is suspect. Why doesn’t he like Pitt and why does he believe that he can develop more fully somewhere else ?

Addison, Riley, and USC will forever be identified as the greed that killed college sports. The only hope for football now is for people with integrity to gain control of the NCAA and enforce their rules.

That’s the same as the 5 star putting Pitt in their final 5 with Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Georgia. It’s just a courtesy for the home town press but everyone knows he’s going to a powerhouse.
Addison is gone, and unfortunately the NCAA will do nothing because they need USC to be a power again for the west coast market.

The slander against USC is actionable. Why would Addison want to stay in a program with a coach spinning lies about USC and causing Jason and his family a lot of stress. He has communicated he wants to go where he will get the best development and have a great year before the draft. That would not be Pitt

He’s not staying at Pitt, they can’t get him this kind of $$$. This does help WVU for the brawl.

Pitt’s WR room is loaded. What this does is truly galvanize this team for 2022. WVU wont know what hit them on Sept 1.

The NCAA is a toothless pussy cat. After coming down on Paterno, they were bankrupt by his loyal followers.

This guy is gone. So be it.

Even if he was considering coming back to Pitt, he’s done so much damage to the culture of this team that he’s nothing but is distraction at this point.

Just another WR Prima Donna.
