Pitt Lands Second OL Commitment from 3-Star OL Ryan Carretta

The offensive line was a priority for Pitt to load up on this month, and after almost a month of no linemen committing, following the third and final official visit weekend has secured two linemen now.

After three-star Colin Van Rooy committed to Pitt earlier today, three-star offensive tackle Ryan Carretta is Pitt’s second offensive lineman commit today — even though he made his Pitt visit last weekend.

Carretta, a 6-foot-5, 310-pound offensive tackle from St. Charles Prep in Columbus, Ohio, committed to Pitt over offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Akron, Central Michigan, Duke, Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami (Oh.), Purdue, Tennessee, Toledo and West Virginia.

Carretta made his official visit to Pitt last weekend, after receiving his very first offer from Pitt way, way back in January of 2021. He made a visit to Michigan State this weekend, but it’s clear that Pitt stood out the entire way.

Along with an under-the-radar commit in Van Rooy, Carretta is a big, strong tackle who has received strong interest from more than a few major programs. As a starter for St. Charles as a junior, his blend of size, strength and agility flashed.

247Sports rates Carretta as the 984th-ranked recruit in the class (58th-ranked offensive tackle and 23rd-ranked recruit from Ohio) while On3 rates him as the 930th-ranked recruit in the class (93rd-ranked interior offensive lineman and 27th-ranked recruit from Ohio). Rivals rates him as the 35th-ranked recruit from Ohio — holding a 5.6 Rivals rating.

The addition of Van Rooy and Carretta provides Pitt with solid, somewhat under-the-radar recruits who already possess solid size. The coaching staff have clearly valued both more highly than some others.

Yep, this guy looks like a solid add. Now land another 4-Star OL before it’s said & done.

These kids are huge….but will they be able to block guys almost as big as them and much quicker ACC players. Seem more like MAC type players.
