Pitt 2023 QB Commitment Kenny Minchey Picks Up Notre Dame Offer

Published

on

Back in April when committing to Pitt, quarterback Kenny Minchey wasn’t a nationally known name.

The Pitt staff, led by Frank Cignetti, Jr. and Jonathan DiBiaso, did a tremendous job evaluating Minchey’s talent and developing a strong enough relationship that Minchey felt comfortable committing to the Panthers program.

Since joining Pitt’s Class of 2023, Minchey has opened the eyes of many college coaches with his performance at various camps, including the prestigious Elite 11, where he wowed talent evaluators from start to finish. The Tennessee native was elevated to a four-star recruit by multiple recruiting services and today his national profile continued to grow.

Despite giving a commitment to Pitt, Minchey announced on Saturday that he has been awarded a scholarship offer from Notre Dame. Minchey also has offers from Tennessee, Michigan State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Vanderbilt.

Currently, Notre Dame does not have a quarterback commitment for their Class of 2023 but has already received a commitment in their Class of 2024 from four-star quarterback CJ Carr. Last season, four-star quarterback Steve Angeli signed with the Fighting Irish and in 2021, they signed four-star quarterback Tyler Buchner.

Pat Narduzzi is hoping that Minchey signs and takes over immediately for Kedon Slovis and Nick Patti.

Considering the national buzz that he’s receiving, it would not be surprising if another major program joins Notre Dame and goes after Minchey.

The Pitt staff is obviously hoping that the relationship that Cignetti, DiBiaso, Narduzzi and members of their Class of 2023 is strong enough to hold off the pressure he’ll no doubt receive to break his commitment to Pitt.

Or be lost in the national program with the other 4-star athletes. There is only so many playing minutes available.
Better yet, ask Shayne Simon why he’s wearing Pitt Blue and Gold?

yes, you never would want to play for a national program on NBC every week for the biggest brand in college football surrounded by other 4-5* athletes for a dynamic young head coach. 80k sellouts and the most powerful alumni network in college. When Touchdown Jesus calls to play at the house the Rockne built you don’t stay and play at a stadium owned by the Steelers in front of 20k
He’s gone.

Try knowing something. Kids like this pick their schools based on the relationships they have with the staff, and quite frankly who gives them the best shot st the NFL. Last I checked Pitt just had their last QB go in the first round, when can ND say that happened? This isn’t HS where these kids want to hang out with the popular kids; Minchey will have a shot at starting his freshman year with a staff and offense that just turned out Pickett. He’s supposed to say no to that so he can go sit on the sidelines with… Read more »

We’re OK his Twitter reads “Thankful to receive…”, had it read “Blessed to receive” it would have been troublesome.
.
Apparently no coverage on PSN today with Florida’s 4* CB Braeden Marshall scheduled commitment.

Just pointing out to Report the Good and Bad, such as going undefeated and an article title Unrewarded along with shower use misbehavior (repeated misuse).

Why even tweet about the offer? The kid could have received the offer – told ND thanks but no thanks – and never even tweeted about it.

I think KM is likely ND’s second choice behind Novosad. My spiteful dream is flipping Nelson from Riley as the ultimate FU.

Apparently, Riley made promises that either he is reconsidering or didn’t have the authority to make. 1st Addison and now the Oklahoma transfer have publicly lambasted USC. Promises, promises.

pulling a Texas kid away from a Baylor commitment might be tough (especially with Baylor facilities and NIL money) but ND is a national brand so either would be prime. Minchey will be gone as with the ND offer his profile will be too big now. I’m sure Georgia will be the next to offer.
