Pitt Reaches Out to Former Ohio State Commit George Washington III

Just days after visiting Ohio State, the Buckeyes’ first commitment in the 2023 class, George Washington III, de-committed from the program on Monday.
Washington is a 6-foot-2 shooting guard ranked as the No. 76 player in the nation by the 247Sports Composite. The four star is from Dayton, Ohio and plays for Chaminade Julienne High School.
Washington de-committed on Monday, and has since heard from a long list of Division One programs including Pitt.

Although many speculated that Washington’s decision stemmed from other players that were visiting OSU — a list that included Bronny James, perhaps the most famous recruit on the planet — the Columbus Dispatch reported that the decision had “nothing to do” with finding space for potential commitments from James or the others that visited.
Pitt currently has commitments from Carlton Carrington (MD) and Marlon Barnes (OH) in the 2023 class. The Panthers also recently hosted priority target Ty-Laur Johnson for an official visit this past weekend, and will have Jaland Lowe on campus this upcoming weekend.
