Pitt QB Nate Yarnell Earns ACC Rookie of the Week Honors

Published

on

Pitt redshirt first-year quarterback Nate Yarnell earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors for his performance in the 34-13 win over Western Michigan on Saturday.

Yarnell made the first start of his collegiate career against the Broncos. In the victory, he completed nine of 12 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown, an efficient performance for a third-string signal caller.

He started in place of quarterbacks, starter senior Kedon Slovis and back-up redshirt senior Nick Patti, who suffered injuries during the loss to Tennessee on Sept. 10.

Yarnell is the first Pitt player to earn ACC Rookie of the Week honors since running back Rodney Hammond Jr. last season. He rushed 17 times for 100 yards in the 77-7 win over New Hampshire.
