2023 3-Star Florida WR Daidren Zipperer Commits to Pitt

Fort Lauderdale, Fl. — There were two Florida wide receivers with big commitment dates this weekend, and while five-star Hykeem Williams committed to Florida State, Daidren Zipperer decided that Pitt is it.

Zipperer, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound wideout from Lakeland High in Lakeland, Florida, committed to Pitt Saturday night, choosing Pitt over a list of finalists that included UCF, USF, South Carolina, BYU and Arkansas State.

With offers from Alabama A&M, Alcorn State, Arkansas State, BYU, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Michigan, FAU, Grambling State, Incarnate Word, JMU, Kentucky, Liberty, Middle Tennessee State, Pitt, Rhode Island, South Carolina, UCF, USF, Utah and Western Michigan, Zipperer is a recruit who has flown a bit under the radar in Florida.

However, the state of Florida’s loss is now Pitt’s gain. With a track record of success at Lakeland, which includes Damarri Mathis, Zipperer could grow into the next impact player from central Florida at Pitt.

Pitt didn’t jump into Zipperer’s recruiting chase until the early summer, after Cory Sanders was down for Lakeland’s spring scrimmage. He didn’t offer Zipperer on the spot, but he did go back to Pittsburgh and talked to Tiquan Underwood. And Underwood soon got in touch.

“(Underwood and I) got on the phone and he offered me,” Zipperer told PSN in May. “He was just telling me about how Pitt would be a good fit for me in the offense.

“(Underwood is) a real guy. He was telling me some real stuff, and from my first time talking to him, I feel like he was real genuine. I felt like he’d be a good coach for me.”

Zipperer made an official visit to Pittsburgh from June 16-18, getting to see the facility and the city of Pittsburgh for the first time. He also made an official visit to UCF over the summer and another with USF earlier this month.

As an under-the-radar recruit whose recruiting process really blew up over the summer, Zipperer’s junior season stats (a team-high 17 catches for 277 yards and two touchdowns) were strong, and he’s been even better to kick off his senior season — and he’s tossed two touchdowns over the last two seasons.

Zipperer is a smooth route runner, and he’s been a deep threat that can burn by opposing defenses and highpoint footballs to make contested catches. He’s been a strong contributor to Lakeland’s 3-0 start in Florida’s Class-7A.

247Sports rates Zipperer as the 1,273rd-ranked recruit in the class (178th-ranked wide receiver and recruit from Florida) while On3 rates him as the 925th-ranked recruit in the class (134th-ranked wide receiver and 135th-ranked recruit from Florida). Rivals gives him a 5.5 Rivals Rating.

Zipperer joins four-star wide receiver Zion Fowler (Jersey City, New Jersey) and Kenny Johnson (York, Pennsylvania) in Pitt’s 2023 recruiting class.

Duzz secures another 3*, beating out Alabama State and Alcorn State.
This is why they have no depth.

Why do you keep pretending you are a Pitt fan? Your life is miserable and lonely and I wish they would block you already 😜

Oh Deebo….what did I say that’s not true. The injuries now expose lack of depth. Can’t keep bringing in low ranked 3* with the hopes of “coaching them up”
I’m not miserable or lonely and you took the time out of your day to respond twice so I don’t think your social calendar is that full?
Why would you want to block and cancel due to a difference of opinion? Sad.

The issue has nothing to do with difference of opinion. It is the sheer fact you hate the Pitt program and you are here trolling to chide the people that are the real fans. As a fan we are all aware of the some of the shortcomings the team has. All programs have them…even PSU….suffering from acute pedophilia and that they are inferior to OSU. # We are. #Green County SCI

Oh Ed, yet you suffer from the same. You hate PSU and provide the same old “pedophilia” jokes. It’s football, relax. Rent free and so easy
