On Saturday, class-of-2023 four-star prospect Jaland Lowe committed to Pitt over SMU, Memphis, and others.
Lowe is a 6-foot-2 guard out of Houston, Texas who is ranked as the No. 75 prospect in the country by 247 Sports. He received an offer from Pitt head coach Jeff Capel back in July and took an official visit to Pitt just weeks ago in early September.
“Pittsburgh was so different from what I envisioned in my head,” Lowe told PSN after his visit. “The city was great; the people were great, and it was just very unique. I loved the facilities, the Pitt coaches were great, overall, the visit was way better than I was expecting it to be.”
Lowe is a left-handed point guard with above-average shooting talent and toughness and creativity when driving. He shined for Houston Hoops all summer long, earning offers from several other high-major programs along the way.
The Panthers now own the No. 15 recruiting class in 2023, according to 247 Sports’ class calculator. Their 2023 class currently includes guard Carlton Carrington (Baltimore, MD) and wing Marlon Barnes (Cleveland, OH).
Stay tuned on PSN throughout the night to read more about what Lowe will bring to the Panthers.
This years team will be much improved with the better guard play and an infusion of over all talent as well.

Hey George, who else might we see commit to Pitt for this class?

One thing I always enjoy. Someone’s first impression of Pittsburgh. Sounds like it helped “seal the deal” for this young man. Pittsburgh and Oakland are indeed unique in many ways. H2P. 🏀
Looking forward to seeing him play! Excitement is building back up for basketball- I love it!
