Former Penn Hills Star and Kent State WR Dante Cephas’ Recruiting Explodes On First Day in Portal

Published

on

After developing his game and turning into a star at Kent State, Dante Cephas will have his choice of Power Five programs to attend next season.

The star wide receiver from Penn Hills High School entered his name into the transfer portal and instantly became one of the top wide receiver targets in the country.

Tiquan Underwood and Pitt were the first Power Five program to offer Cephas on Monday and that was followed by others from Penn State, West Virginia, Miami (Florida), Oklahoma, Notre Dame and Kansas.

Cephas was a modestly recruited prospect out of high school, but he’s seen his stock skyrocket after four seasons at Kent State.

Cephas broke out with a 1,240-yard, nine-touchdown performance campaign in 2021, and he followed it up with 48 receptions for 744 yards and three touchdowns this season — in just nine games.

With 130 receptions for 1,984 yards (15.3 yards per reception) and 12 touchdowns over the last two seasons, Cephas has earned back-to-back All-MAC first-team honors at wide receiver.

It’s been a long road for a recruit who originally only received offers from Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky, Howard, Kent State and Toledo, but he will have two seasons of eligibility at his next location.
