PSN’s Mike Farrell is reporting that Pitt running back Vincent Davis has entered the Transfer Portal.
The 5-foot-8, 180-pound back from Cardinal Gibbons in Fort Lauderdale, Florida isn’t the biggest player, but in terms of heart and effort, Davis was amongst the biggest on the Pitt roster. Because of this and his ‘We Not Me’ attitude, Davis is a beloved player by the coaching staff and his teammates.
During his time at Pitt, Davis rushed for 1,813 yards and 16 rushing touchdowns, to go along with 64 receptions for 413 yards and a touchdown.
This past season, Davis received 52 carries and rushed for 274 yards and a touchdown, obviously not receiving a ton of work due to the workload that Izzy Abanikanda and Rodney Hammond received. His best season as a Panther came in 2020 when he started nine games and rushed 143 times for 632 yards and six touchdowns.
With the addition of Derrick Davis, along with the return of Rodney Hammond and possibly C’Bo Flemister, Davis wouldn’t have had much of an opportunity for an impact in 2023.
Davis joined Pitt as a 3-star recruit in their Class of 2019 selecting the Panthers over other Power Five opportunities with Boston College, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse and Wake Forest.
Davis will have one season of athletic eligibility remaining.

Hate to see this. But, as layed out in the article, it may make sense for Davis.
Great player. Fun to watch.
H2P
Had some great moments. Especially GA TECH
Against the right matchup he can be a problem and is a good change of pace/receiver out of the backfield. Good luck wherever you end up.
Great person and will be missed! He always has a smile on his face and was fun to watch, but totally understand his thinking. Good luck!

I wish him luck to wherever he goes! Good solid player.b
He was a solid player. Broke a lot of tackles, especially for his size. Fun player to watch.
Sorry to see this. He was a real team player
Davis was always underrated. He’s amazingly strong for his size and had more moves than most on the RB squad. His achilles heel, however, was fumbleidis. A great attitude and true team-player so also hate to see him go.
Good luck Vince. I hope you get to start wherever you wind up.
