As the college basketball transfer portal opened on Monday, a familiar name from Pittsburgh appeared in the portal, looking for a new home.

Robby Carmody, a 6-foot-4 guard out of Notre Dame, entered his name into the portal on Monday after being with the Fighting Irish since the 2018-19 season. Carmody, a Mars HS graduate, was ranked in the top-100 of the 2018 class.

Carmody battled injuries in his time in South Bend, playing just 22 games across three seasons under head coach Mike Brey.  His injury history began in his freshman year, when he underwent surgery to repair a partial labrum tear in his shoulder. Carmody had his best stint in 2019-20, in which he averaged 5.4 points and 1.6 rebounds per game across seven games of action. This year, he played in six games, averaging three minutes per outing.

Carmody won the prized 2018 Gatorade Player of the Year award in Pennsylvania. He now enters the portal looking for a new home, along with hundreds of other players.
