Getting top recruits to make visits and experience your environment is the key and goal for any college program.

On Monday, Pitt was able to do just that as the coaching staff hosted a high-end recruit from New Jersey.

2025 four-star wide receiver Michael Thomas III from Donovan Catholic High School in Toms River, New Jersey was in Pittsburgh on an unofficial visit.

Thomas, who’s being recruited to Pitt by Tiquan Underwood, is rated by 247Sports as one of the Top 100 overall players and one of the Top 15 receivers in the Class of 2025.

Thomas, 6-foot-1, 175 pounds has an offer list that includes Pitt, Rutgers, Boston College, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Penn State, Syracuse, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

“Coach Underwood has been up to my school a couple times we have been in communication back and forth and I told him I would get up there ASAP,” Thomas told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “With that being said, I had a Nike Camp that I was invited to in Pennsylvania, and I told him once we were done that, I would visit Pitt. The visit was absolutely amazing! The coaching staff was great and treated me as if I was a (Pitt) player.

“We took a tour around campus, which was amazing and then we met some of the players. The highlights of the day for me was having a great conversation with head coach Pat Narduzzi. He definitely kept it real with me and gave more knowledge on football and also life. So, I definitely took note of what he was saying.”

That wasn’t the only important and impactful conversation that Thomas had while at Pitt. The talented sophomore also had the chance to speak with Underwood, someone that he’s creating a very tight bond with.

“Coach Tiquan is a standup guy. He is cool, laid back but he definitely shows how much he loves the game,” said Thomas. “I also love how he takes the time out to check up on me. He was also he giving me a couple pointers for my upcoming season.”

Knowing that he’s only a sophomore and there’s plenty of time before he has to make a decision, I asked Thomas where Pitt currently stands in his recruitment?

“Pitt has definitely opened my eyes and I loved every second of the visit. They are definitely one of my favorites.”
