Another matchup has been added to Duquesne’s non-conference schedule.
The Dukes will take on College of Charleston in the Veterans Classic event on November 10 in Annapolis, Maryland. Navy will play against Temple in the Classic’s other game. The games will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
Duquesne basketball on Pittsburgh Sports Now is sponsored by The Summit Academy: setting young men on the path to a better future.
Last year, in year two of the Pat Kelsey era, Charleston burst onto the national scene, going 31-4 and earning a No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Cougars went 16-2 in the CAA, winning both the Regular Season title and the CAA Tournament. Charleston reloaded its roster this offseason, once again taking advantage of the transfer portal, and specifically, the Division Two transfer market. The Cougars added the following players from the portal this offseason:
Bryce Butler – West Liberty (D2) – 22.4 PPG, 7.6 RPG
Kobe Rodgers – Nova Southeastern (D2 National Champions) – 12.8 PPG, 4.5 RPG
CJ Fulton- Lafayette – Third Team All Patriot League – 10.1 PPG
Frankie Policelli – Stony Brook – 13.7 PPG, 9.4 RPG
In addition to the matchup against Charleston, Duquesne is also reportedly facing off against Nebraska, Rider, Santa Clara, and others in its non-conference slate. In conference, the Dukes will face off against Dayton, St. Bonaventure, St. Joe’s, and Fordham twice. They will host Davidson, George Washington, La Salle, Richmond, and St. Louis as well. On the road, the Dukes will travel to take on George Mason, Loyola Chicago, UMass, Rhode Island, and VCU.
Initially, Duquesne was set to play Samford on November 10. However, PSN has learned that the Duquesne-Samford matchup has been cancelled.
