It’s the first season of a division-less ACC, and Pitt football is still expected to finish in the upper half of the conference.

The 176 ACC media voters picked Pitt football to finish tied for sixth in the ACC in 2023, which is tied with Duke.

Clemson narrowly edged out Florida State to claim the No. 1 spot, and North Carolina, North Carolina State and Miami rounded out the Top 5. But only Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina and North Carolina received first place votes.

Louisville, Wake Forest and Syracuse ranked 8-10, and Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Boston College and Virginia comprised the bottom half of the conference.

Pitt will play Florida State (2), North Carolina (3) and Duke (t-6) but also Syracuse (10), Virginia Tech (11) and Boston College (13) in the 2023 season.

Clemson won the ACC last season, defeating North Carolina in the ACC championship game, but this season’s ACC will be determined by whichever two teams have the best record at the end of the regular season.

  1. Clemson, 2,370 points (103 first place)

interesting .. probably not a bad prediction at this time of the preseason. noticeable that there are huge dropoffs (votes) between positions #2-3-4, and then again after Pitt/Duke.

Seems like a pretty reasonable ranking, if this were 1998.
