It may not be a noon kickoff, but Pitt can officially put its stretch of primetime matchups in the rear-view mirror when it travels to play Wake Forest in two weeks.
Pitt will kickoff against Wake Forest at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 21, with the game being played at WF’s BB&T Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C. It will be broadcast on the ACC Network, with a TV team to be announced at a later date.
It’s just the third meeting all-time between Pitt and Wake Forest.
It will be another important game for Pitt, one of the games that the Panthers will need to win if they want to earn bowl status at the end of the season — especially with ranked games against Louisville and Notre Dame before and after.
The Demon Deacons are 3-2 this season, despite a mid-tier offense and defense through the first half of the season, with wins over Elon, Vanderbilt and Old Dominion.
Wake Forest had an early bye week sandwiched around conference losses to Georgia Tech and Clemson.
Pitt has played Wake Forest twice in its history, and the last matchup came in the 2021 ACC championship game in Charlotte, N.C. — a 45-21 win capped by Erick Hallett winning MVP honors.
The two sides first met back in 2018, with Kenny Pickett throwing for 316 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-13 win at BB&T Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C. There has not been a meeting in Pittsburgh.
The ACC Network broadcast crew will likely be announced next Monday.
Maybe you like “prime time” games but this senior citizen prefers 1 PM kickoff time for Homecoming (in case you missed it, 6:30 PM). Chancellor is going to rue this opportunity to tell Heather – no for Louisville. Our generation is the one preparing to bequeath millions and what worse way to say you care than telling the seniors “we don’t care if we inconvenienced you”. Just send money.
The ACC television contract gives them control of the game times. Pitt has no control over it.
