The Pittsburgh City League football playoffs begin this week, with four of six teams qualifying to compete for the league title.
Westinghouse (7-0), the reigning champion and state finalist, enters as the No. 1 seed, set to face off against No. 4 Taylor Allderdice (1-7) on Friday, October 20.
The No. 2 University Prep Wildcats will host No. 3 Perry (1-6) on Thursday the 19th.
Brashear (2-6) and Carrick (1-6) did not qualify for the tournament.
University Prep saw standout starting quarterback Max Qureshi go down with a head injury in their game against Allderdice this past week, so they may roll with sophomore Jaquille McIntosh under center instead. The Wildcats beat Perry 70-0 in their previous matchup this season, while Westinghouse took down the Dragons 20-2.
The first round matchup between Westinghouse and Allderdice marks a break from recent tradition, as the two teams faced off in the City League championship game in each of the past three years.
Both games will take place at 7pm at George K. Cupples Stadium on the South Side, with the championship game slated for Saturday, October 28.
