Adou Thiero was one of the most intriguing high-school prospects to come out of the WPIAL in years two years ago, when he sprouted all the way up to 6-foot-5 as a senior.
Thiero, a guard at the time, averaged 23 points and ten rebounds in his senior campaign at Quaker Valley, earning 4A Player of the Year honors.
Since arriving at Kentucky, Thiero has transformed his body and his game and has made the most of a seemingly never-ending growth spurt. As a freshman last year, he played nine minutes per game, scoring a season-best seven points in a victory on the road against Arkansas.
Now, heading into his sophomore campaign, Thiero is listed on Kentucky’s roster as a 6-foot-8, 222-pound guard, and as each day passes by, he is receiving more and more attention as a key piece of the Kentucky puzzle this year.
Kentucky has lofty expectations this season in year 15 of the John Calipari native. The Moon native will look to Thiero, former West Virginia forward Tre Mitchell, returning guard Antonio Reeves, and freshmen studs Rob Dillingham and D.J. Wagner to lead his Wildcats back to the promised land. Kentucky was recently ranked at No. 16 in the preseason A.P. Poll.
