The first round of the 2023 WPIAL football playoffs kicked off on Friday night, and there was plenty of shakeup across the board as underdogs worked to defy the odds and upend their portion of the bracket: among those were No. 9 Greater Latrobe, who upset No. 8 West Allegheny to pick up their third playoff win in program history, while No. 10 Beaver Falls upset No. 7 Keystone Oaks behind a run-heavy attack.

Other teams to earn upset wins include Moon, Trinity, South Park, Western Beaver, Beaver Falls and Rochester.

WPIAL Class-6A
With only four teams qualifying in the 6A bracket, each team earned a first-round bye ahead of the semifinals next weekend. Both the 6A and 5A championship games will take place at Norwin High School on Saturday, November 18.
No. 1 Central Catholic vs No. 4 Mount Lebanon at Fox Chapel at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 10.
No. 2 North Allegheny hosts No. 3 Canon-McMillan at 7 p.m. Friday.
Class-5A

The 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A championship games will all take place at Acrisure Stadium on Friday, November 24.
