Pitt Depth Defensive Lineman No Longer Listed on Roster

A Pitt football lays on the turf on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023 in Blacksburg, Virginia. (Mitchell Northam / Pittsburgh Sports Now.) College Football / Signing Period. NCAA.

Todd Hill decided to capitalize off a strong career at Duquesne and make the jump from the FCS to the FBS at Pitt over the offseason.

The 5-foot-10, 240-pound Hill, who played his high school ball at Steel Valley in Munhall, Pa., didn’t see the field during his time at Pitt and, as of Monday morning, is no longer listed on the official Pitt roster.

He arrived at Pitt as a tweener, with no real fit at either linebacker or defensive end, and a lot of depth at defensive end held him off the field through the first nine games of the season.

According to J.J. Kitchen, a popular Pitt YouTube host, Hill will have one season of eligibility remaining due to COVID-19.

With Dayon Hayes, Nate Temple and Bam Brima already in place, and the emergence of Samuel Okunlola as the season has worn on, there just wasn’t a fit for Hill. But, with his success at the FCS, he should be able to make an impact elsewhere.

Pitt will lose Temple after the season, and Hayes and Brima will have decisions to make when it comes to returning or moving on. Okunlola should be a major presence on the end for seasons to come, beginning as early as this season down the stretch, and Jimmy Scott, Nahki Johnson, Antonio Camon and more headline a group of younger options rising through the ranks.

Sincere Edwards and Zach Crothers headline the defensive ends from the class of 2024, which should continue to thrive under Charlie Partridge’s mentorship.

In an article dated July 31 highlighting 2023’s newcomers and Todd Hill’s potential role as a hybrid defensive lineman, Ludwig makes no indication that Hill hadn’t overcome his only barrier to scholarship: a pre-existing “pec” injury that he’d need to-progress and heal through August. Given that he’s on the 2023 Roster throughout the season one would assume that scholarship attained. But if so, wtf would a player on scholarship have to gain by exiting the team in a November move that one would also presumably void his scholarship? Unless he hadn’t cleared the requisite physical satisfactorily and thus the injury,… Read more »

More transfering? Get off your duffs and recruit instead of stuffing your face with snacks and diet pepsi, coaching staff. Get out of your golf carts and get to work, and while your at it, lose some weight, fatso’s!

2023 and 2024 recruiting Classes are legit, chill out.

Some of these Schools that benefited from Super Seniors and Covid years may experience a bubble. PITT had a solid underclassmen OL transfer out a year ago when all the Super Seniors returned.

Since Narduzzi lets it up to his coordinators to make all the personal decisions, why in the hell is Pitt paying Narduzzi ???

What’s going on with Elliot Donald? I haven’t heard a whisper about this kid. A 4* recruit nationally and not a sound. Is the media afraid to comment on his lack of development due to AD’s money funnel to Pitt? The silence is deafening.
