Duquesne basketball lands JUCO Transfer Brandon Hall

Duquesne basketball landed a new talented guard Saturday night, as junior college transfer Brandon Hall committed to the program.

Hall plays for Howard College in Big Spring, Texas, in the western part of the state. He hails from Chicago and played for Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Ill., a suburb south of the city. Hall averaged 18.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game as a junior in 2019-20, leading his team to a 33-1 record and receiving all-conference and all-state honors for his play.

He committed to East Tennessee State as a member of their 2021 recruiting class, but didn’t play as a freshman in the 2021-22 season.

Hall would soon transfer and play for Moberly Area Community College in Moberly, Mo., in the center of the state, during the 2022-23 season. He averaged 10.5 points per game, shooting 34.9% from the field, 28.3% from 3-point range and 67.1% from the free throw line. He also averaged 4.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.7 blocks per game, respectively, that season.

His great play led to Moberly having a fantastic season, with a 30-4 overall record and earning the No. 4 overall seed in the 2023 NJCAA Tournament, before losing to Dodge City in the Second Round. He played with current Division I players in St. Peter’s guard Jaheim Tanskley, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi guard Tedrick Washington Jr., Appalachian State forward Tre’Von Spillers and Eastern Illinois forward Lazar Grbovic.

Duquesne's 2024 March Madness Tournament coverage is sponsored by Leon's Billiards & More, Moon Golf Club and Archie's on Carson! Their contributions have allowed us to cover the Dukes run in Omaha, Nebraska. We appreciate their support!

Hall has had a stellar season so far with Howard College. He is averaging 16.5 points per game, second best on the team, shooting 42.5% from the field, 26.2% from 3-point range and 65.5% from the foul line. He is also averaging 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game, respectively, this season.

In an 82-81 loss to Southwestern Christian College, he scored a season-high 36 points on 11-for-15, 73.3%, shooting from the field, including 11-of-12 from the free throw line. He also scored 33 points in an 100-95 win over Temple College on Nov. 21, shooting 12-for-28 from the field making three 3-pointers as well along with seven rebounds and four assists.

Standing at 6-foot-4, Hall is an exceptional athlete, unafraid of any defender. His ability to drive through contact to the paint makes it difficult for any opponent to guard him, resulting in fantastic dunks and spectacular layups. He also likes to spread the floor, pulling up from deep or mid-range, while also dishing passes off to teammates on drives for easy points. His court vision extends to the defensive side of the ball, allowing him to pick off passes from defenders and push the ball up on offense.

Along with Duquesne, Hall also held offers from UIC and Tarleton State, with interest from Arkansas State, Bryant, Cal Poly, George Mason, Jackson State, Louisiana-Monroe, New Mexico State, Portland State, Tennessee-Martin, Texas State, UC Davis and UT Arlington, according to Jake Lieberman of JAL Hoops.

With Duquesne losing senior guards in Dae Dae Grant and Jimmy Clark III, Hall should feature as a main member of the backcourt for next season.
