Friday night in front of approximately 200 peers, family and friends, Duquesne Athletics honored the 2024 Merle Gilliand Duquesne University Athletics Hall of Fame class at the Power Center.

The event provided an opportunity not only to mingle but for the three teams honored, their families and coaching staff the ability to catch up, some of whom had not seen each other in several years.

With hors d’oeuvres offered before the event and a bar present, the mood shifted towards the ceremony itself, which was emceed by Vice President of Athletics Dave Harper.

Following Harper’s introduction, he turned the floor to Duquesne University President Ken Gormley who welcomed everyone and got the honorees excited for the event ahead as well as both the men’s and women’s basketball contests, where everyone will be recognized.

Throughout the ceremony, Harper invited each honoree or team’s coach up to introduce those being recognized with accolades and humor both mixed in.

What follows is a summary of how the evening unfolded.
