Q&A

Other sports: Thinking about playing basketball.

Favorite hobby outside of football? Playing video games.

Favorite type of song, music or artist to get you ready for a game? Definitely R&B, but Meek Mill gets me ready before games.

What’s your pregame routines/superstitions? I hold my cross pendant and pray.

Favorite gameday meal? I can’t eat before games.

Favorite NFL player to watch? CeeDee Lamb for sure.

Something people don’t know about you that they would be surprised to know? I’m low-key super nice at snowboarding.

Favorite high school football moment so far? When I returned the opening kickoff in the state championship.

Biggest mentor and why? My dad because he makes sure I know right from wrong and he sets a good example.

Describe yourself on the field? Dog. A starving dog.

What are your goals this offseason? To get faster and better.

D1 Offers? Robert Morris.

Camp schedule? I’ve been to Pitt. Looking forward to a Saint Francis camp and Penn State.

What’s the recruiting process been like? It’s been good so far. I had a breakout year last year and it put a spotlight on me. Now, I got to perform and show these coaches I can play and I’m a big difference maker.

Coach Talk

“Anthony just has that playmaking ability that is hard to come by. He can check all the boxes off. On defense, he is tough and aggressive. He has good ball skills and is good at open-field tackling and coverage. Offensively, he can make phenomenal catches, he can run the ball, he’s great on the perimeter, but I think the thing that is unique with him is his explosiveness. He’s a kid that can kick it into a different gear. His best attribute is his quick bursts that make him tough to track down. He is the full package and that is something that is marketable from a Division I standpoint.”   — Belle Vernon head coach Matt Humbert

Film

Plain and simple, Crews is a playmaker. It was quite evident in the Class 3A state title game against Northwestern Lehigh when he returned the opening kickoff 77 yards with a blend of speed and vision. Shortly thereafter, Crews scored on a reverse, and he had to stop up and cut back to the opposite side of the field for 62 yards. Crews has breakaway speed that makes him a threat any time he touches the ball and has space. He is able to finish through a hit and has tremendous ball skills. While he only holds one DI offer from RMU, expect his recruitment to take off during his senior season.
