A Pitt football walk-on and local WPIAL product has entered the transfer portal looking to find a new home in college football.
Devin Whitlock — a 5-foot-10, 165-pound wide receiver out of Belle Vernon Area High School — entered the transfer portal on Thursday after two seasons with the Panthers.
“First and foremost, I’d like to thank God for continuing to bless me and allow me to play the sport that I love. I would like to thanks coach Narduzzi and the whole Pitt staff for giving me a chance to achieve one of my dreams. I’d also like to thanks my family and friends who’ve supported and been there for me from the beginning. I am grateful for my time at the University of Pittsburgh and will cherish the relationships I have made. With that being said, I will be entering the transfer portal with three years of eligibility,” Whitlock wrote in a post on X.
The Monessen, Pa. native joined Pitt as a walk-on in January of 2023 and would redshirt that fall. He did not see any game action across his two years with the program.
At Belle Vernon, he was a dynamic quarterback that tossed for 1,023 yards and nine touchdowns, while adding 1,189 yards and 23 touchdowns on the ground as a senior as he helped the Leopards to a 10-1 record and a WPIAL Class 4A title appearance.
After losing its last six game, Pitt has seen its roster reshape with 16 scholarship players entering the portal, along with a handful of walk-ons that includes quarterback Jake Frantl, offensive lineman Matt Metrosky, wide receiver Jake McConnachie and defensive lineman Thomas Aden.
