Pitt’s Federiko Federiko has made the most of his time back in his home country of Finland this summer.
As announced by the FIBA World Cup Instagram page, Federiko made the extended roster for the Finland FIBA World Cup team, along with NBA All Star Lauri Markkanen and others.
Finland is in Group E in the upcoming FIBA World Cup, along with Germany, Australia, and Japan. Finland’s first game will be in Okinawa on Sunday, August 27 against Japan, and its second matchup will come on Tuesday, August 29 against Germany.
Federiko has been working out at the Finnish National Olympic Training Center and practicing with the national team throughout the summer in several stints. Last month, Pitt assistant Jason Capel took a trip over to Finland to see Federiko, and later broke down his time with the big man’s family in an interview with PSN here. As a sophomore last season, Federiko started 27 games averaging 6.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for the Panthers. He ranked third in the ACC with 1.66 blocks per game, logging 12 different games with at least three rejections.
Federiko also joined PSN’s Just Buckets Podcast recently, along with the Diaz-Graham twins. Check out the full interview here or at the link below.
