It’s the time of the year when it gets dirty in the recruiting business. All teams go after kids that are already committed. It’s just more interesting around here when it’s Pitt vs. Penn State.
Within the last few days, Penn State has tried to get 2 players from Pitt to flip. Sources tell me that both WR Maurice Ffrench and CB Therran Coleman have been approached by Penn State coaches.

Yesterday, Ffrench announced on Twitter that Penn State offered him a scholarship. From what I told, they were trying to get him a make a visit there this weekend. Up until now, Ffrench hasn’t accepted the offer.
Just minutes ago, I found out that Brashear cornerback Therran Coleman was approached by Penn State assistant coach Terry Smith.
I’m told that Smith asked him “if he was 100% committed to Pitt?” Coleman told him “Yes , I am.” The conversation didn’t go much further. If Coleman had some doubt, Penn State was prepared to offer him a scholarship.
As I said a few times, I think Coleman is the most underrated recruit in Pitt’s class and has the potential to become a future star.
UPDATE (7:07 PM)-
**A reliable source just informed me that Penn State coaches have approached Pitt 2016 commit DT Bryce Hargrove in an attempt to get him to flip his commitment. Like Ffrench and Coleman, Hargrove said he’s totally committed to Pitt.
UPDATE (9:10 PM)-
**Just confirmed that Pitt commit Rashad Wheeler was asked by Penn State coaches to make an official visit but he declined. Wheeler held an offer from Penn State when he decided to commit to Pitt.
