Tuesday Pitt/WPIAL Recruiting News

We’re heading down the home stretch, one week till National Letter of Intent Day.

**One feeling that I’m starting to get.  One of the big knocks against Dave Wannstedt was that he could never recruit a top notch quarterback.  My early feeling is that those days are behind the Pitt football program especially with Matt Canada in charge of the offense.

From everything I see both on and off the field, 2016 recruit is going to be a really, really good quarterback. Then the Panthers are after some top level talent in 2017 & 2018. With the reputation that Canada has in developing quarterbacks, I have no doubt they’ll land one of them.

2017 QB Offers-

Hendon Hooker (6-5, 200), Greensboro, North Carolina.

Kevin Doyle 6-3, 190), Malvern, Pennsylvania

UPDATE (9:31 AM)-

**Since being named as head coach, Pat Narduzzi hadn’t been afraid to go after the highly rated recruits. The Pitt staff did it last year and are doing it again with 2017 recruits.

One of Pitt’s latest offers went out to a big time prospect from Cocoa, Florida.  Bruce Judson is a 4-star QB/DB and has an offer from all the elite teams in college football. How about Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Miami Fla, Ohio State and now add Pitt.

“The offer came as a surprise, Pitt came to my school yesterday and offered. I’m not sure yet what position they’re recruiting me for”, said Judson.

In high school, Judson plays quarterback but he’s only  5-10, 175. In college with his electric speed, he probably projects as a slot receiver or cornerback.  In fact, Pitt defensive backs coach Renaldo Hill is the coach that visited and offered.

“I know it’s a good program and my former teammate (James Folston) played for them.”

Any chance that Pitt gets a visit?

“Yes, I’m planning a visit now.”

UPDATE (1:20 PM)-

**Steel Valley 2017 RB DeWayne Murray received an offer today from Toledo.  Expect the interest in him to really increase.   Murray will be attending Pitt’s Junior Day,

Pitt coaches in-Home visit with Virginia wide receiver K’Von Wallace.

UPDATE (4:14)-
**Central Catholic 2017 DT Kurt Hinish picked up another today from Syracuse.  Yesterday, Hinish received one from Boston College.

UPDATE (4:23 PM)-

**Former Pitt coach Paul Chryst was back in Western Pa today. The Wisconsin coach and a couple of his assistants were at Pine-Richland HS to check in on 2018 QB Phil Jurkovec.

UPDATE  (5:08 PM)-

**Another day and another offer (s) for Virginia athlete K’Von Wallace.  This is turning into an unreal story.  Today, Wallace received offers from both Michigan State and Ohio State.  In the last week, he’s received offers from Michigan State, Ohio State, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Maryland and Arizona.  Wow.

As I reported earlier, the Pitt coaches had an in-home visit with Wallace today.  Who’s going to be next to offer?

UPDATE (5:25 PM)-

**Wallace reacted on Twitter to his offer from Ohio State and called them “his dream school.”    On the surface, I’d have to say that Ohio State is now the leader in the clubhouse.

UPDATE (6:53 PM)-
**McKeesport’s Khaleke Hudson just announced that he’ll announce his decision tomorrow at 3 pm.   He won’t be holding a press conference, will just announce it on Twitter.  My guess is Hudson will pick Michigan.

UPDATE (8:06 PM)-
**Pitt OC Matt Canada will make another visit to Ohio tomorrow to see 4-star QB Thomas MacVittie.

UPDATE (9:24 PM)-
