Wednesday Pitt/WPIAL Recruiting Notes

Published

on

**One week from today, college coaches will be standing next to the fax machines waiting for official commitments to come through.

**A question that I get asked a lot, “Is Pitt going to get Robert Washington?”  The answer to that is “No.”   Reason being is that Pitt is no longer recruiting him.  For a variety of reasons, Pitt has moved on.   So unless Miles Sanders makes a last second flip, Pitt is done with running backs for this year.

UPDATE (10:36 AM)-
**Pitt recently offered 2017 4-star DE Jonathan Ford from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.  Ford has offers from Florida State, Ohio State, South Carolina, Miami of Fla, and Michigan, etc.  Ford is considered a Miami lean but Pitt is still recruiting him.

Ford describes himself as “a finesse player that’s very aggressive.”  Ford also told me that “I’ll eventually come to Pittsburgh for a visit and meet all the coaching staff and see the campus!”

UPDATE (11:12 AM)-
**The Pitt coaching staff continues to make 2017 elite DT Fred Hansard a priority recruit.  This morning, a member of the staff stopped by his high school again.  Hansard tells me that DC Josh Conklin was at his school in New Jersey.

UPDATE (11:59 AM)-
**Clemson just finished an in-home visit with Virginia athlete K’von Wallace. The much talked about recruit still plans on visiting Pittsburgh this weekend.

UPDATE (12:23 PM)-
**Just received an interesting piece of information.  In the end, it might not matter but it shows that Pat Narduzzi is going to fight till the end.  Source tells me that for the past 2 hours, Narduzzi has been meeting with McKeesport’s Khaleke Hudson.   I’d be shocked if he ends up anywhere but Michigan but Narduzzi is getting one last chance to state his case.

UPDATE (3:08  PM)-
**As expected, McKeesport safety Khaleke Hudson selected Michigan over Penn State, UCLA and Pitt. In my opinion, Hudson is one of the top 2 players in the WPIAL this season.  Best of luck to him at Michigan.

UPDATE (6:10PM)-
**I’m not going to name the kid’s name until he decides whether to do it (it’s not Khaleke Hudson), but I can tell you that Pitt is trying to get a local kid that’s committed to another school, to make an official visit this weekend.  Stay tuned.

UPDATE (10:00 PM)-

**The Penn State coaching staff had their last crack at Damar Hamlin with an in-home visit.  James Franklin and two assistants spent the evening at Hamlin’s home trying to convince him to select Penn State on Monday.

**For the 3rd day in a row, Central Catholic 2017 DT Kurt Hinish picked up another Power 5 offer. Hinish picked up an offer today from West Virginia.

**Tonight Pitt offered two  2017 offensive lineman from the state of Ohio.  Matt Sichterman (6-5, 265) from King Mills, Ohio and Mike Miranda (6-4, 280) from Stow, Ohio are the latest recruits to receive offers from Pat Narduzzi.

UPDATE (10:23 PM)-

**Yesterday we told you about Pitt’s late interest in former Michigan recruit Rashad Weaver.

I contacted Weaver tonight and he told me that he’s only made 2 official visits. With all the interest that he’s gotten in the last 48 hours, he hasn’t been able to pick a few finalists but that Pitt was “somewhat high.”   Weaver told me that Pitt assistant Tim Salem is recruiting him and told him that “they want me and just to let him know when I wanna come there and they are ready.”
