Monday Pitt Recruiting Notebook

Here are some news and notes that Pittsburgh Sports Now has gathered today:

**Over the weekend,  I’m told that Pitt coaches were out recruiting /evaluating both PG Aaron Thompson and Combo guard David Beatty.

Thompson is a 4-star 2017 point guard and is the first player that Kevin Stallings offered after taking over at Pitt.

David Beatty (6-4, 170) is a combo guard from Philadelphia but plays for St. Benedict’s Prep School in New Jersey.   Beatty currently holds offers from Georgetown, Kansas State, Memphis, Miami, Penn State, VCU, Florida State and South Carolina.

The Scouting Report (according to Future 150.com) is very athletic, great ball-handling, excellent finishing through contact and versatile player.  Needs to Improve: 3 point shooting, help side defense, off the dribble shooting, playing without the ball.

I hope to have reaction from both players later today.

**Alabama was at Pine-Richland today checking in with 2018 quarterback Phil Jurkovec.  Pitt offensive coordinator Matt Canada was at the school on Friday.

**Will update this with any Pitt/WPIAL football/basketball news as soon as I receive it.

UPDATE (3:51)-

**New Castle star athlete Geno Stone received an offer this afternoon from Navy.  This is Stone’s 8th offer.

**Alabama has offered Steel Valley and Pitt 2017 commit Paris Ford.  That is the 29th offer for Ford

UPDATE (4:40 PM)-

**Alabama sure made a statement today in the WPIAL, first offering Ford and now we learn that they’ve offered Clairton 5-star CB Lamont Wade.

UPDATE (6:35 PM)-

**Pitt extended an offer to West Virginia OT Billy Ross, who has some big time offers.   I’ll hopefully have a story with Ross soon.

UPDATE (8:38 PM)-

**Over the weekend, the Pitt basketball staff was out recruiting Virginia 4-star PG Aaron Thompson and moments ago, I received a message from Thompson.

“Coach Sutton and Coach Stallings are the coaches talking to me.  Coach Stallings has been recruiting me since he was at Vandebilt.  I’ll be making a visit to Pitt in the weeks to come”, said Thompson.

UPDATE (10:22 PM)-

**Tonight Pitt offered another 2018 prospect when DE/OT Rasheed Walker from Waldorf, Maryland received a scholarship.  I’m assuming since Walker is from Maryland, that assistant coach Andre Powell offered.
