Wednesday Pitt/WPIAL Recruiting News

Let’s see if today is as big a day for Pitt and WPIAL recruiting news as yesterday.   As always, I’ll be constantly updating this throughout the entire day.

**I’ve confirmed that within the last day, Pitt was out to see massive Nassau Community College OT Badara Traore (6-8, 310).   Traore is a big-time prospect holding offers from South Carolina, Penn State, Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida, Baylor, Auburn and Arizona State.

I’m attempting to talk with Traore later today.

**WR coach Kevin Sherman was in Virginia yesterday checking out Woodberry, VA TE John Kirven.   Pitt offered Kirven (6-6, 240) a scholarship two weeks ago but have been in communication (Coach Salem) with him for a while.

“I got to meet Coach Sherman for the first time today at my track practice”, said Kirven. “Im hoping to take a visit in the future. I will most likely visit sometime in the summer.”

UPDATE (11:28)-
**WR coach Kevin Sherman spent some time in Harrisburg yesterday watching a player that he’d no doubt want to coach one day.  Harrisburg WR Shaquon Anderson-Butts is a receiver in the Class of 2018 but is already getting major attention.   Anderson-Butts (6-0, 159) has offers from Penn State, West Virginia, Rutgers, Syracuse and Temple.   Pitt hasn’t offered yet but I’m told it will be coming soon.  This speedy receiver is reportedly high on Penn State but Pitt recruit is well in Harrisburg so it could shape up to be a pretty good recruiting battle for this talented receiver.

UPDATE  (1:01 PM)-

**2018 Malvern Prep QB Kevin Doyle picked up an offer today from Kentucky.  Pitt was the first school to offer Doyle and is a major target for 2018.

UPDATE (1:17 PM)-
**Liam Soraghan is a 6-7, 235 pound TE/DE from Dearborn, Michigan and yesterday, Soraghan had a phone conversation with Pitt TE coach Tim Salem.

“It was a good conversation.   We talked for a little while about myself and what is going on in the spring and summer”, said Soraghan. “After that we talked about my recruiting what they look for in a tight end. He then told me that Coach Hill will be coming to visit me and then he might come to see me later in May.”

“That wasn’t my first time talking to Coach Salem, we’ve had steady communication for a few months now and I met with him in person when I visited the school in February. Pitt is a school that interests me a lot.”

Soraghan tells me that he has 3 FBS offers and that other schools that are showing high interest in him are Toledo, Bowling Green, Rutgers and Cincinnati.  An offer from Pitt would mean a lot to this big tight end.

“Getting an offer from Pitt would mean so much to me.  I know how much history and tradition there is in that program and it would be a HUGE honor to be apart of that”, said Soraghan. “I know that there’s a deep history of success at Pitt. Many pros have come through that program and many will continue to come out of it.”

UPDATE (2:45 PM)-
**Kevin Stallings has made an offer to another high ranked player.  Kimani Lawrence (6-6, 160) small forward from Providence, Rhode Island (New Hampton School) picked up a Pitt offer.  Lawrence has offers from Miami, USC and Xavier.   I’m attempting to contact Lawrence.

UPDATE  (3:40 PM)-
**Hackensack, NJ OL/DT Eli Fields (6-6, 270) has had contact with Pitt.  I’m told that he’s spoken with Tim Salem.   To  my knowledge, Pitt hasn’t offered Fields yet.

UPDATE (3:50 PM)-
**From what I’m told, Pitt is staying in contact with Knoch TE Mac Christy.  In fact, Christy speaks on a weekly basis with TE coach Tim Salem.  Pitt hasn’t offered yet, but he’s a name to remember.

UPDATE (10:32 PM)-
**Kevin Stallings has offered another 4-star guard.  SG Jordan Goodwin (6-3, 216) from Belleville, Illinois.  Goodwin has some big offers:  Michigan State, Oklahoma State, UConn, Iowa State, Indiana and TCU.  Love  that Stallings is  going after highly ranked players.
