Thursday Recruiting Notes

I’m going to work the phones today and see what sort of recruiting info I can come up with. Found out a couple things last night.

** I checked in with 2018 quarterback Kevin Doyle (Malvern Prep), a player that I think would be a big get for Pitt’s Class of 2018, to get an update on his recruitment since he’s been a hot prospect lately.

“Nothing new as of now. I like what I see out of the press with Coach Canada and his offense and coaching style,” said Doyle. “Seems like everyone is adapting to them and enjoying it. I can’t wait to get to a game.”

UPDATE (7:24 AM)-
** Talked to an unnamed 2017 recruit who I know has interest in Pitt and asked him for any updates and he messaged this back.

“This Is My Favorite DT And Football Player ????”

I like Pitt’s chances with this unnamed recruit.

UPDATE (9:21 AM)-
** Per Sean Fitz of 247 Sports, Thomas Jefferson linebacker Zane Zandier will visit Penn State this coming weekend. Zandier doesn’t have a Penn State offer but is hoping that changes. As this point, West Virginia appears to be the leader.

UPDATE (10:38 AM)-
** All I can say is “Ugh”. CBS Sports.com released its preseason Bowl Projections and they project the Panthers to play against Utah in the Sun Bowl on December 30th.

UPDATE (8:46 PM)-
**Philadelphia 3-star CB  Kenny Bennett announced tonight that he’s narrowed his list of college down to 3: Pitt, Maryland and Temple. Bennett told me that it would have been 4 but Virginia Tech never officially sent him an offer.

UPDATE (8:48 PM)-
**Some Pitt basketball news, 4-star forward Kimani Lawrence (Providence, Rhode Island) is on a visit right now at Arizona State. Lawrence tells me that he doesn’t have date set yet for a visit to Pitt but that he would like to get to Pittsburgh sometime before September. Lawrence is a player that I see eventually signing with Pitt.
