Western Pennsylvania doesn’t produce a ton of Division One talent and when they do, Pitt needs to at least be a serious consideration for him. Mars 2018 SG Robby Carmody is one of the top 100 players in the entire country and prior to Kevin Stallings arriving, Pitt didn’t have a chance with him. That’s not the case now.
This elite prospect from Mars just finished up a visit to “The Pete” with Stallings and his staff. After talking with Carmody, you get the feel that Pitt at least has a chance.

“We went today to meet all the staff. Â We’ve been there and have seen everything from all of our other trips but today it was nice to visit the entire staff. If was nice, they were all great guys,” said Carmody.
It’s not secret that Pitt’s trying to make up some ground with Carmody and the staff tried to work on that today.
“They talked about Coach Stallings and how he’s a players coach. Also, that he doesn’t run many sets and let’s his players have freedom on the court which definitely fits my style really well,” said Carmody.
“We (Coach Stallings) talked a lot and you can tell that he really wants to bring this program back to where it was when they were in the Big East. He thinks they have the potential to be at the top of the ACC every year. Hiring him really changed my perspective of Pitt basketball.”

“Coach Dixon did a great job but he definitely had some trouble going from the Big East to the ACC. I think Coach Stallings will turn that around.”
Finally, I asked Carmody if he would’ve considered Pitt with their old style of play and what’s his timeline for deciding?
“I don’t think I would’ve been a good fit in Coach Dixon’s system. Coach Stallings runs a system I could see myself playing in,” said Carmody.
“I don’t have any favorite teams right now. I would like to make a decision by my senior year just so I don’t have to worry about it during the season.”
“Pitt has a chance.”
