Tuesday Pitt Notes

4 Days Away!

** Today is the first team practice of the week in preparation for Saturday’s opener. Our beat writer, Alan Saunders, will have a story today on one of Pitt’s freshman that will be expected to contribute.

** Remember, tomorrow will be this season’s first edition of The Pat Narduzzi Radio Show. The show will take place every Wednesday starting at 6 PM from Cupka’s (South Side). It’s open to the public, so stop by, have dinner or a drink and listen to some Pitt football talk.

UPDATE (4:55 AM)-

** The Pitt/Penn State game will play host to many top recruits and I’ve learned of another prospect that will be there. 2018 East Allegheny athlete TJ Banks will make the trip to Heinz Field. Currently, Banks (6-5, 225) only holds an offer from Toledo but expect him to pick up many offers during the 2016 season. After his visit to Pitt, Banks will then visit Toledo.

UPDATE (10:46 AM)-

**Blair Academy basketball coach Joe Mantegna tells Sportsnet New York that his star PG Matt Turner, who was offered recently by Pitt, has a Final 6 of Pitt, St. Louis, Virginia Tech, St. Joe’s, George Washington and Santa Clara.

UPDATE (11:59 AM)-

** The bizarre story of the day was a Steeler beat reporter taking a classless shot at a high school athlete. Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette responded to a tweet from co-worker Mike White by writing this:

https://twitter.com/rayfitt1/status/770604664454836224

Wow, I think most agree that tweet was completely out of line. It’s been the talk of Twitter through out the day. As you’d imagine, Ford responded to Fittipaldo.

UPDATE (12:13 PM)-

**PSN’s Alan Saunders reports that Pat Narduzzi has given scholarships to former walk-ons linebacker Seun Idowu and quarterback Manny Stocker.
