The Pitt basketball team will open ACC Conference action this Saturday vs. Notre Dame and will do so in front of a 2018 Top 200 recruit.

Arashma Parks is a 6-8, 232 center from White Plains, New York. 247 Sports rates Parks as a 3-star recruit and lists him as the #4 prospect in New York and the #11 center in the country.

“I’m visiting Pitt this weekend in order to see the new staff and to see how the team is looking this year,” said Parks.

“My interest level in Pitt right now is very high because they’re recruiting me very well and I talk to some of their coaches every other day.”

Parks tells me that Pitt’s Dan Cage has been in contact with him the most and that started back in October.

“I feel like like me and the Pitt assistants have a good relationship. Coach Cage checks up on me every other day and tells me nothing but positive things,” said Parks.

Parks tells me that the strength of his game is his rebounding ability and getting putbacks. He also says that he’s viewed as a great teammate that knows his role and performs it well.

At this point, Parks doesn’t hold an offer from Pitt but is hoping that changes this weekend.

“I’d be very grateful to receive an offer because it shows that the hard work is paying off and the best best is my mom wouldn’t have to worry about paying for my education. It means I’d go get an education and get to do what I love, which is play basketball.”
